If thoughts come and go
Were they ever real?
Were they ever ours?
It is the nature of thoughts
To show up uninvited
Give us their opinions
And then go.
We may choose to entertain them
but only briefly, if we so desire.
Though it is best
To let them in
And let them go
Unmolested, undisturbed.
Like inhaling and exhaling.
Like an autumn breeze.
Marveling at their insistence
Smiling at their goofiness.
